Duties: Answer phone calls, check email for new equipment applications and assign an order fulfillment specialist to put the equipment in the pick up room.

The Assistance League of Charlotte receives donated medical equipment, much of which we are unable to sell in the thrift store. Before discovering Assist ME, most of the items were donated to Goodwill. During COVID, Goodwill stopped accepting many of the items, including bedside commodes. Now, donated equipment is stored at the warehouse until enough items are available for an Assist ME volunteer to pick up.
I learnt about Assist ME in 2018 when I wanted to make a donation for a Diabetes related cause as I lost my father due to diabetes. Since then I decided to volunteer as much as I could. Initially, I brought in a person who helped develop the website probably in 2019 or so. Later, I worked with a team to post social media messages. Now, I volunteer one day a week as a receptionist.
