As demand for mobility equipment surges across our region, Assist ME is taking bold steps to build a more sustainable future. We’re strengthening operations, expanding partnerships, and investing in long-term impact — all made possible by your support.
At Assist ME, we believe that mobility is more than movement — it’s independence, dignity, and access to life. Every walker, wheelchair, and rollator we provide helps someone regain control, reconnect with their community, and move forward with confidence.
Over the past four years, the demand for our services has surged by more than 200% since 2021. In 2024 alone, we served over 1,200 individuals across Charlotte and surrounding counties — and we’re on track to reach more than 1,800 in 2025. This growth reflects a rising need in our community, driven by population shifts, existing healthcare gaps, rapidly evolving healthcare policy changes, and new hospital referral partnerships.
But with growth comes challenge. Our all-volunteer team has worked tirelessly to meet this demand, managing everything from warehouse logistics and inventory control to patient coordination and reporting. As we expand, we face a critical need: building the infrastructure and staffing required to sustain our mission for years to come.
That’s why we’re taking bold steps to strengthen our foundation.
Scaling with Purpose
We’re preparing to welcome our first paid team member — an Operations Program Coordinator — who will help manage daily operations, coordinate volunteers, oversee inventory systems, and improve service efficiency. This role is essential to maintaining safety, responsiveness, and quality as we scale.

We’re also implementing a new inventory management system to streamline equipment tracking and distribution, and we’re collaborating with Wingate University and Julia’s Learning to pilot a Union County warehouse site. This innovative partnership not only expands our reach but also creates inclusive workforce opportunities for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Why It Matters
Every step we take toward sustainability is a step toward equity. By strengthening our operations, we ensure that every qualified applicant receives timely access to the mobility equipment they need — regardless of income or insurance status.
Your support makes this possible. Whether you’ve donated equipment, contributed funds, volunteered your time, or shared our mission with others, you are part of this journey. Together, we’re building a more resilient Assist ME — one that can grow, adapt, and continue restoring independence for years to come.
Thank you for being part of our story. We’re excited for what’s ahead — and we’re grateful to have you with us in this journey.
