This past fall, Assist ME launched its first-ever signature event — the 2025 Wheels & Walker-thon — to elevate our fundraising efforts and lay the foundation for strategic growth. As we are embarking on capacity-building initiatives to expand staffing, strengthen infrastructure, and broaden our footprint across the greater Charlotte area to meet growing mobility needs, this event marked a powerful step forward.
Behind every successful event is a team of believers — and our 2025 Wheels & Walker-thon sponsors showed up with heart. Seven sponsors took a leap of faith — and helped turn mobility into possibility. From booths to Water & Wellness stations, their support helped raise over $23,000 and launch Assist ME’s capacity-building vision. Hear from our Presenting Sponsor and meet the partners who powered the day.
Their support, coupled with our 185 generous donors, helped Assist ME raise over $23,000 to help purchase medically necessary mobility equipment and kick-off Assist ME’s capacity-building vision. Meet the partners who powered the Wheels & Walker-thon and helped turn mobility into possibility.
None of it would have been possible without the generosity and belief of our sponsors. We are especially grateful to our Presenting Sponsor, Carolina’s Home Medical Equipment, Inc., whose leadership and deep understanding of our mission brought heart and credibility to the day with kind words.

“You guys probably don’t have a total understanding of what Assist ME does. I do,” said Frank Trammell, Founder of Carolina’s Home Medical Equipment. “Back in the day, before Assist ME, we got a lot of orders for people who had no insurance. Assist ME stepped up and took care of business by donating equipment to those who couldn’t afford to buy it. You provide one heck of a service to the greater Charlotte area — and it’s a big deal for people who are uninsured or underinsured.”

We also extend our heartfelt thanks to our supporting sponsors who stepped up so others could roll forward:
- Numotion Foundation: ¼ Lap Sponsor
- Atrium Health: Carolinas Rehabilitation: Water & Wellness Sponsor
- Charlotte Chiropractic and Rehab: ¾ Lap Sponsor
- The Barclay at SouthPark: Finish Line Sponsor
- Sharon Presbyterian Church: Water & Wellness Sponsor
- Charlotte Laser Pain Center: ½ Lap Sponsor
- Clearwater Auto Spa: Mascot Gift Card Sponsor

Three of our sponsors — Atrium Health: Carolinas Rehabilitation, Charlotte Laser Pain Center, and Carolina’s Home Medical Equipment, Inc. — hosted interactive booths onsite, engaging directly with our walkers and rollers and helping create a vibrant, inclusive atmosphere.

Their support not only helped us raise critical funds for medical mobility equipment — it also amplified our message, strengthened community ties, and set the stage for future growth.

“We’re deeply grateful to our sponsors whose belief in our mission turned a vision into reality,” said Jolyn Sloan, Community Outreach & Development Chair. “We look forward to building on this momentum and continuing to work hand-in-hand with our partners to serve more individuals in need across Charlotte and beyond.”
Looking ahead to next year, the 2026 Wheels & Walker-thon will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, once again at Park Road Park. Annual and event sponsorship opportunities will open in January. Interested individuals or organizations can contact Jolyn Sloan at develop@assistmenc.com.
